2005 Gold Buckle Club Events
Initial Buckle Drawing
In April, we had our first gathering of Gold Buckle Members. We sold 43 Buckles prior to that event and did a reverse drawing to find out who would be Buckle #1 (Troy Baker was the last name drawn). As in all of our events to date, we provided a hosted bar and some outstanding hors’ devours. Our initial membership goal of 40 was not only passed by our first event, but we have since doubled that number. This is a true indicator of the area wide support for the Sheridan WYO Rodeo.
Bradford Brinton Art Show and Dinner
We got a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the Bradford Brinton Museum and show off their featured artwork for 2005. “The Cowboy, the Rodeo and the WYO Rodeo” was the theme and we enjoyed a fantastic dinner and evening on the lawn at the Bradford Ranch. At this event, we presented the Sheridan WYO Rodeo with its first check from the GBC. A $9000 check was given to the increase the added money for the cowboys that come to the Rodeo. This is another example of how quickly the GBC has impacted the Sheridan WYO Rodeo.
Sheridan WYO Rodeo VIP Room
During the WYO Rodeo week we provided each member access passes to the VIP/Gold Buckle Club next to the grandstands. The VIP/Gold Buckle Club was open prior to and following each night’s performance. VIP shuttle service provided transportation free of charge to any GBC member or guest. Special parking was allotted next to the VIP/Gold Buckle Building. This will only be bigger and better next year. With closed circuit video feed on large screen TV’s, we brought the Rodeo inside so you never miss a moment of the action. Inside the VIP room, each member enjoyed 72 degree air conditioned comfort. Half of the purchase price and install price of the new air conditioners was paid for by GBC members. Another example of capital improvements to the County Fairgrounds.
Tail Gate Party at the Equestrian Center
During Sunday’s polo match (The WYO Cup), we provided our members with a hosted bar and lunch. With special reserved seating, each member of the GBC could come with their family and enjoy a day on the grass and watch some of the best polo of the year.
Fall Ball Gold Buckle Dinner and Dance
This was a salute to the 2005 Rodeo year. With over 220 people attending our western dance and social, the evening went off without a hitch. Starting with a social hour, we got an opportunity to meet with many of the WYO Rodeo’s Corporate Sponsors that were invited to help us celebrate our nomination as the “PRCA Outdoor Rodeo of the Year”. We energized the crowd with a 10 minute fireworks display, compliments of Bruce Burns (another GBC member).
The Dinner and Dance was held at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. This is the same location of our Gold Buckle VIP Room during the Rodeo. We had an 8 person band "Marvin Roberts and the Midnight Rodeo" from Denver, performing throughout the evening. Before the dancing began, we drew a winner from the GBC Members present for trip to Las Vegas and the 2005 NFR. The winner got 4 tickets to two performances at the NFR, flight vouchers totally $1000 and hotel accommodations for two nights (Don King was the winner).
At the time of the dance we had 87 members in the GBC and have been adding them ever since.
